Microsoft Japan : Experiments 4-Days Week in Results Production Boosted by 40 Percent

Japanese employees are known to give longest working hours in the world. As per government survey Japanese companies previously requiring more than 80 hours of overtime in a month by employees no matters they are going to get paid for overtime or not. Japan come with new law with limiting legal overtime to 45 hours in a month, Reported by Telegraph.


According to a government report over a fifth Japanese employees are at risk due to unmanned work balance by giving more than 80 hours of overtime in a month.

Microsoft Japan is come out with new work strategy to break down trend of un managed work balance by giving three-day weekend for it employees. According to a report Microsoft Japan carried out a project called “ Work-Life Choice Challenge Summer 2019” for one month in August  – by giving 2300 employees Friday off in addition to Saturday and Sunday according to Soranews24. In surprising result productivity actually increased by 39.9 percent.

Important Thing: Four day work environment enforce employees to use their work time more efficiently. Employees changed their in-person meetings into virtual meetings according to their time schedules.


Conclusion of This Project : Employees took 25.4 percent fewer days off during August month also printed 58.7 percent fewer pages also consumption of electricity decrease by 23.1 percent in office. The majority of employees of Microsoft Japan were big supporters of this new initiative.
